A smoke detector is an electronic fire-protection device that automatically senses the presence of smoke, as a key indication of fire, and sounds a warning to building occupants. Commercial and industrial smoke detectors are used to signal to a fire alarm control panel as part of a building’s central fire alarm system.
Heat detector is a fire alarm device designed to respond and send alert when the thermal energy of a fire increases the temperature of a heat sensitive element. The thermal mass and conductivity of the element regulate the rate flow of heat into the element. All heat detectors have this thermal lag. Heat detectors have two main classifications of operation, "rate-of-rise" and "fixed temperature". The heat detector is used to help in the reduction of property damage.
Beam detection is very important for large open areas, such as atriums, warehouses, etc. They are cost effective when compared with using point detection & suitable for heights way above the operating limits of conventional smoke detection. It senses smoke by projecting a light beam from a transceiver unit across the protected area to a reflector that returns the light signal back to the transceiver unit. Smoke entering the beam path will decrease the light signal causing an alarm.
